city lights

Apologies for the lack of posting. Last week was my spring break and I was running around like mad going to galleries, museums and stores in the city. If any of you ever get a chance to visit NYC please please please stop by Chelsey and visit all the galleries. It is so much fun and it's free! Hmmm... maybe I should do a post of my fav. places to visit and dine in the city??? let me know if you guys would want that.
Also, I am excited because a good friend who's a photography major at Parsons moved into one of their dorms and it is literally a couple of blocks away from the MJ store on Blecker St. !! ayyaayya! I am def. going to be visiting him more often.. hehe.

I also spotted these while buying some Toblerone at Walgreens. I would have loved to have take a pic of her entire outfit (it was pretty epic!) but I was shy :( They're awesome, no?

The Fantastic Four

My favorite women in fashion right now are:

Erin O' Connor because she pulls of menswear like no ones business. But then again with those long legs and amazing haircut, who wouldn't?

Giovanna Battaglia: I want everything she has ever worn. Somehow she manages to wear the newest trends without looking...well... too trendy. Besides I've never seen anyone work color and patterns so well into an outfit.

Emmanuelle Alt: She is my fashion soul sista :) Her minimalistic style and the way she adapts and transforms basics (e.g. that infamous leather jacket) is simply brilliant. This is a woman who understands the value of good tailoring.

The Olsen Twins: (I know technically they are two but the title of the post would look weird were it the Fantastic Five, no?) They are crazy, cool and everything in between. I mean, seriously, who else could pull off a pimp hat?? MK can.

the jacket

I am lusting after this jacket. First I saw it on Karla from Karla's Closet and I loved the bold shoulders and subdued color. I thought it would look awesome paired with black leather pants so when I spotted this picture I thought- Perfect. Does anyone know if H&M still has this jacket?

limey

Winter is almost gone and I could not be happier. The sunshine looks so lovely after three long months of gray cloudy skies. This spring seems to have been invaded by the color yellow/green or as I call it - Limey. Hate it or love it, it's defenitely cheery. Just what I need after three months of pure black, gray and more black.

From the runway...

To the street.

Lord and Taylor

So I got this amazing vintage Lord and Taylor sequined jacket at a consignment store for 3 dollars! I was so excited because I am not usually lucky when it comes to finding good vintage pieces. Because it is so glam, I wanted to tone it down by wearing it with dark colors. I think it came out alright but I want to try something bolder. Hmm... any suggestions?

FYI- short hair is totally liberating! For those of you who haven't tried it, DO IT. That whole, short hair has to go with you face myth, is bs. AND you save TONS of money on shampoo which in these difficult economic times is always a plus. :)

Sequined jacket, vintage. sheer gray top, express. shoes, Michael Kors (love him btw!)

Clown Face

Woke up extra early and extra groggy today to finish writing an English paper. BTW that h&m jacket is by far the best purchase I've made in awhile.

a quickie...

So here's a quick outfit post. :D I received a rather unpleasant comment today letting me know that my blog was "unoriginal". At first I was appalled but then I thought- criticism is always a positive , no? The purpose of this blog was not just to post outfits and talk endlessly about my clothes, but rather to share my love of all things concerning- fashion, love, and of course rock &roll (hence the title). I promise to be less insipid and more informative with future posts.

jacket, h&m. shirt and silk pants, express. shoes and necklace, vintage.

PS. Express has the best sheer t-shirts and they are super cheap. PLUS- harem pants on SALE!!

FW '09- part I

So I've been checking style.com for the latest updates on the shows. First designer I checked out was Alexander Wang, but I've got to say that I was NOT impressed. The only piece from his collection that is worth mentioning is this great black sequined dress. The shoulders are amazing and the all black ensemble is defenitely chic.

Next I looked at Jason Wu, Peter Som and Charlotte Ronson. Jason Wu's collection was pretty but what stood out were his dresses. They were gorgeous. Peter Som's collection was teeny tiny. He played with color and texture and managed to create some works of art (literally they look like canvas paintings...go check it out!) From Charlotte Ronson I really only liked one look. The clothes look pretty wearable though.

Jason Wu #1

Jason Wu #2

Peter Som

Charlotte Ronson

A new favorite is definitely Erin Fetherston. Her collection was impeccable. I want every single piece. The clothes look like they were taken from a fairytale story book. It is a bit crazy but if toned down it is def. wearable. I strongly advice checking out the entire collection.

Erin #1

Erin #2

Erin #3

Erin #4

My favorite looks so far though have been by Yigal Azrouel. It is defenitely wearable and it sticks to my basic clothing guidelines: casual, comfty, chic. Oh and as an added bonus- they are neutral colors!! :D
